Philippines and South Korea Relations

Image
I am a Filipino and I am a huge fan of Kpop and Korean dramas. I was just amused on how they were able to preserve their culture and history and at the same time adapt to modern changes and even become one of its leaders. But just recently, I just discovered an interesting relationship between the Philippines and South Korea. It was astonishing to know that Filipinos were actually a part of Korea's history way before Kpop and K-dramas were introduced; and now I wonder, did I just forgot the facts? Or has just this been forgotten in our own history? I compiled a few facts gathered from different sources below about the start of the Philippine SoKor relations and the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea for us to relive history once again. The bilateral relations between South Korea and the Philippines started on March 3,1949 when the Philippines recognized the Republic of Korea.  In June 25,1950 the North Korean Communist Forces started its offensive against Sou...

My Korean Icon Contest

cr: http://swisshansik.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/samgyupsal-pork-belly/ What would be the first thing that will come into my mind when I hear the word "Korea"? That's simple! Its SAM-GYEOP-SAL !!! For me, this dish is just truly daebak (amazing)! This amazing dish also enticed some of my friends, some of them shared a piece of their thoughts in this blog of mine. I always have the craving to taste this dish every time I watch a Korean drama, why? It's because every time they eat this dish, it seemed that they are enjoying the food very much. But as far as I can remember it was when I watched We Got Married Yongseo Couple Episode 45 , that I hungered more after their famous Samgyeopsal . In this episode, YongHwa fried the pork belly and seasoned it with pepper. They used sesame leaves, red lettuce leaves, pepper, onion, garlic, onion and mixed rice. The virtual couple made a lettuce wrap for each other following their heart's desire on what t...

Psalm 23 ~ My prayer, My guide

Image
For the past month I have undergone into personal trials and such, which made me question the path I am currently taking. But this is not the first time when I felt this way, 2 weeks before my actual CPA board examination, I felt the same dilemma. During my first encounter of being helpless, my aunt called the minute she heard my frustration. By then she told me to stay strong and that God will always be at my side, but still, my heart was racing so fast. Then, she shared to me a passage in the bible which she thinks could help me by uttering these words "I am no doctor but I'll give you the same prescription that I took when I was down, read Psalm 23 three times a day and as much as possible memorize it by heart". That time, I actually thought 'what could such words do to what I'm feeling?', but there was no harm trying it. Well, reading and carefully memorizing such passage gave me a miracle by calming my heart and gaining back the confidence I had lost. ...

KTO Miss Flower Spring Review

Image
Writing another blog and this is again Korean-related, it has been a while since I wrote my last blog so here I go... I am new at giving out reviews so pardon me if ever you see flaws in my reviews, but basically these are my opinions for the video made entitled Miss Flower Spring. And I would actually like to dissect this review into three parts: the music used, cinematography and story-line. REVIEW: Music The music is very relaxing and it is really giving that feel of warm passion of two young people. It makes a person's heart beat. Even though this is a mute skit, both the actions and the music coincided together which pretty much helps the viewer understand the concept of the story itself. The music also give the viewers a youthful feeling and the taste of nature's music. Cinematography I am not an expert but the transition was bugging; what I meant with this was the transition of one frame to the other was just so bugging(redundantly), but aside ...
