Irrittating Traffic: 1 year after Sendong (CDO)

[6:10pm, Dec 17,2012]

I'm actually writing this in the midst of a very irritating traffic since I really wanted to share this irritation in my blog later. You see, this is not the first time that I have encountered such an irritating traffic, BUT there is surely a common thing in these scenarios, and that's a not so planned event. How was I able to assess such? Well, there is an event for commemorating those who have died during Typhoon Sendong/Washi, and that's currently(at that time) the cause why there is a huge traffic in our city. I do respect those who have died, but can the city government respect the living as well? This commemoration should have been planned months before, now,  did they really planned it well? For, if they did, then shouldn't they have anticipated the traffic that will result in this event, shouldn't they have thought of a solution or a plan that should minimize all of this? Like what I said earlier, this is not the first time that this had happened, therefore, I can say that they did not learn from the past.

I feel pity to those who are waiting in vain for a public transportation just to get home, because they've been waiting for nearly an hour or hours even. I was one of them, and I can clearly say that it is not that very convenient to literally hop on a transportation in this kind of situation. It took me 2 hours, just to get home and our house is not even that far from the city. My regular travel time from the point where I was, was about 30 minutes only. IT WAS SUCH A FRUSTRATION!!!

[Now]

I saw this post from a facebook page which tackled about the commemoration that was done for the first anniversary of the Sendong tragedy. I have read the comments and I really agree to what they have said. Commemoration for the tragedy and to the dead should have been solemn and such, as respect for those who have died. Their goal perhaps of having a concert was probably to uplift sadness, but they just added some salt into the wounds of some Kagay-anons. They should have done this more sensitively, for not everyone is prepared to commemorate such in a joyful tone.

Anyhow, this is what I replied to the post in a facebook page

"And I truly agree to everything that has been posted in this status. And to add, respect is given to both the living and the dead, therefore, they should have taken into account the adverse effects that have resulted from their haste and not so planned decision. Event organizing is hard, so they should have done it months ago and anticipated everything that might happen and sought for a solution for it in advance. It was quite a disappointment to travel for more than an hour or two to a short distance destination and a frustration for those who waited for quite some time in order to get a ride. [These are my thoughts on this matter, bato-bato sa langit tamaan huwag magalit =P]"

I just hope and pray that the city will fully recover soon. God bless Cagayan de Oro!
