Loving and Knowing Yourself...

I would just like to make this clear, I have not been into any relationships but I have my own strong view about it. "You cannot wholeheartedly give your love to the other person if you yourself do not love yourself". I know, you may have heard it somewhere, perhaps a book or a television drama, but isn't it the truth?

My view in getting into a relationship is that you must seek to know yourself first, for then you'll finally learn to love your true self. Why? It's because getting into a relationship needs maturity, and I define maturity as going to higher level of thinking wherein you'll be ready for anything. Relationship isn't a game of tag wherein you'll find the man of dreams and poof you chase him and tag him and then he'll come to run for you. Unlike nowadays, a relationship should have been taken with much care and seriousness, that's my principle. And oh, don't even start bashing me about my own view, it may sound old-fashioned but it is how relationships SHOULD BE. I think this is one of the reasons why people get broken hearted and all. It's because they are not yet intellectually and emotionally mature to get into a relationship. You see, if both of you still are not mature in these two aspects, I'm sorry but I think you both still need to find yourselves individually. How will you be able to find yourself, if you can't find solitude in being alone and meditate.

I think one of the best ways to determine whether you are prepared or not, is when someone asks you to describe yourself, you will not have second thoughts on what to answer, and your answers would be consistent to the different people who asks you the same exact question. BUT if you're consistent but are having second thoughts if it's the truth or not, then perhaps you are only memorizing what you are saying and you're trying to convince yourself that you have matured and have the capacity to be in a relationship.

Right now, I can actually be able to describe myself wholeheartedly and I truly love myself despite my many imperfections. But, I am not rushing to be in a relationship. I'll enjoy what I have and to the future that I know nothing about. But hey, prince charming, I'm here waiting okay?
